HOW TO GET TO SORRENTO BY PLANE:
The nearest airport to Sorrento,
only 50 km far, is Capodichino. The
airport is linked to the main
Italian and European towns by
different airlines that, often,
propose interesting offers depending
on the season of the year. From the
airport there are different ways to
get to Sorrento. The most
comfortable and the cheapest as
well, if available at your arrival
time, is bus service by Curreri. The
bus is just outside the arrival gate
and for less than 10 euro takes you
straight to Piazza Tasso, the main
square of Sorrento and in good
traffic condition it takes about one
hour. Different solutions may be
taxi or transfer services that the
most agencies in Sorrento offer for
a price between 70 and 100 Euro.
From the airport there are also
buses, taxi and shuttles to the Circumvesuviana rail station from
where you can catch the local trains
to Sorrento every half hour or to
Beverello port from where you catch
the hydrofoils and ferries to
Sorrento. We suggest you to use
these last transports only if you
don't find any better solution as
they are little comfortable and
tiring.
HOW TO GET THERE BY TRAIN:
the train station Napoli Centrale
Piazza Garibaldi of the State Rail
is linked to Sorrento by the
Circumvesuviana local trains. As
soon as you get to Napoli Centrale
take the stairs to the underground

Circumvesuviana station.
The price of the ticket is about
3.00 Euro and you can buy it at the
ticket strand or at some newsagent
in the station.
The journey from Naples takes about
one hour and depending on the time,
can be more or less comfortable. The
trains are infact often crowded but
unluckly they represent the fastest
and cheapest way to reach Sorrento.
HOW TO GET THERE BY CAR:
Any direction you are coming from
take the highway to Naples. Follow
the A3 to the Sorrentine Peninsula
and take the Castellammare di Stabia
exit. From Castellammare drive along
the main road for about 23 km. You
pass through the villages of Vico
Equense, Sant'Agnello as far as
Sorrento, the last village you find.
The state road in the most touristic
period, from June to September, can
be stucked with traffic and
sometimes it takes more than one
hour to drive the 23 km from
Castellammare to Sorrento.
If you are in the town centre of
Naples it can be very comfortable to
reach Sorrento by sea. There are
different hydrofoils and ferries
linking Naples to Sorrento.
Depending on the transport it takes
about 40 minutes to get to Sorrento.
The journey is more comfortable than
the train one even if more expensive
(about the double). The hydrofoils
and the ferries get to the port of
Sorrento that is about 500 mt far
from the town centre. We suggest you
to get to the centre by the shuttle
buses you find in the little square. |
